Welcome to SumPr

Sumesh is a 16 year-old from Kerala, India. An active techie, writer, technology fanatic, sports lover, and a friendly dude. Prefers minimalism in everything - be it his own room, his computer setup, or his blog. He hates clutter and is an advocate of clean and lightweight designs, lifespace and lifestyle. Works hard ocassionaly (=when it matters), but is generally easy-going. Loves to communicate with people and help those in need.

Born in February 1992, Sumesh is currently 16 years old(and counting). Currently studying in 10th Standard and approaching CBSE Board Exams, he studies only for the big ocassions, like annual exams. "Studying for every exam is a waste of time" is his favourite motto.

He realizes that the Indian style of studies is mostly useless and counter-productive, and as such, tends to take a western style in studies and learns everything in a memorable, practical way so that they can be usefull when he becomes an adult. "From now on, we do not teach you, but teach you how to learn" is a favourite quote of his, said by his English teacher. And he respects every word of it.

Tryst with Tech

He has a long history of being involved with computers. In 1996, at the tender age of 4, he first felt and used a computer when he visited his dad's office. The colour, the graphics and the geek factor attracted him to it.

But he was not interested in anything beyond games untill the age of 10, and his father chose not to buy a computer until then. He was presented with his first computer sometime in 2001, and quickly outgrew the old machine. Subscribing to Digit, an Indian mag on technology made him think beyond the cool factor of computers. He started exploring all things hardware, and later, internet.

He came across Digital Inspiration, a blog by his countryman Amit Aggarwal in late 2005, and immediately started his own blogspot blog and became addicted. He discovered WordPress a few months later, and moved to his own domain and WP blog at TechZilo. He is now the adviser/consultant for all things technology to his family, relatives and friends.

Career: Blogging and Freelancing

His blog, TechZilo, has been around since April 2007. After struggling to find visitors and subscribers for a long time, luck changed with the hitting of Digg frontpage, and subsequently being linked to from Lifehacker. He has been linked to from Lifehacker, Lifehacker.au and a blog belonging to SplashPress Media (can't remember the name). There has been 2 Digg successes and 4 each of StumbleUpon and Del.icio.us front-page appearances.

He currently enjoys success with his blog TechZilo which experienced an explosion of visitors and exposure since the first Digg. He earns some change from AdSense monetization on TechZilo, and is currently concentrating on making money only from freelance writing (his blog is his passion).
